Machine learning predicts species richness

Why is species richness of taxonomically comparable groups of organisms so different? Can we discover the factors that best predict and explain these differences? We tackled these and similar biodiversity related questions in an innovative way. Using machine learning algorithm on a broad dataset from spider biology, we show that machine learning analyses can be used in deciphering the factors associated with diversity patterns.
